Verizon cell service vs. Straight Talk
Straight Talk testimonial
Great cell phone service with no contract
I have been with several cell carriers over the years. I bought my first cell phone in 1993 from good old Bell South and I paid about $1000 in all for the set up I had at the time. I changed to AT&T, Nextel, Sprint, and finally Verizon over a ten year period. I have a huge cell phone grave yard in my office. I don`t know why I keep them, I think it is some kind of a monument or vigil to commemorate the thousands I have spent in 17 years on cell phones.
When I switched to Verizon I thought I was in heaven, I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop. The service was fantastic and I had coverage no matter where I went. I was in Cherokee N.C. in the middle of a mountain range and the only people who had a signal were the Verizon customers in the group. Verizon was just like all the other big boys who once were small; they would promise and deliver the moon to their customers at first then slowly slithering like a snake the benefits began to dwindle. Every time I received a cell bill I would go through a ritual of casting out demons before I would open the bill; it was always much more than I even thought possible.
This brings me to my point; I wanted to share with my readers the great discovery I made in finding Straight Talk no contract cell service. I had a friend tell me she had bought this service and it just so happened I was starting to look into no contract services. I was very skeptical as most of us are who have been enslaved by the big boys for years; it’s like trying to believe some politician is actually not going to lie to you. I must say I tried the service with great fear after researching different carriers for about two weeks.
No one carrier is perfect let`s just get that out of the way up front; however, Straight Talk has been a complete joy and I am very satisfied. The customer service is a bit lacking only because I don`t speak Indian or Spanish but they are attentive, courteous, and helpful. The website is also lacking and does not have the bells and whistles Boost Mobile and others do. At first their phone selection was horrible but now they even offer great Smart phones as well. The service runs off of Verizon towers and I found (I travel a lot) that I had service everywhere that I had it with my former carrier Verizon. I just recently bought the new Smart Phone from Wal-Mart for Straight Talk, the Nokia model 6790; this Smart Phone is fantastic and I only pay $47.00 a month for the service. I have all the minutes, text, media, GPS, and web I can use for one flat rate. The Nokia is a great phone but it does have some navigational issues that take a bit of getting use to.
You do have to purchase their phones upfront which may be a negative for some people;I will admit that it can be expensive to do so;however, you pay for them at the Big Boys as well when you sign a two year contract. You can find used phones as well on EBay and craigslist list.
Final analysis; if you are paying more than $50 a month for unlimited everything than you are wasting money big time. The reason I chose to do a hub on Straight Talk is because my children are on Boost Mobil and I have found their coverage to be nothing like Straight Talk. Not many people have heard of Straight Talk so I knew I should share the news. Good luck and have a happy no contract life!!

StraightTalk is the best! My fiance and I are both using ST phones and saving a bundle each year. For those who don't use their cell phones much, they may find ST's sister plan, Tracfone to be cheaper yet. Phones start at $10, calling minutes are 10 cents each, and text messages are 3 cents each. www.tracfone.com
